This idea was born as an alternative production model to the small farm partnership we have used in the past. In the cooperative, farmers share labor to grow crops together on the farms dispersed plots. With the cooperative set up, and cost sharing, we have more flexibility to choose to what degree we want to be a production-for-sale farm, and to what degree we want to grow for the sustenance of our friends and families. The cooperative is a site for learning and mentoring across our levels of experience. The the ladies making up the cooperative bring together a glorious array of dreams and skills, allowing the farm to grow into host for community dinners, classes and events and a kitchen for huge food processing projects.
